May I extend a warm welcome from the home of the Hawksmoor Golden Retrievers.
We have been involved with Goldens since 1975, when we purchased our
first Golden 'BRACKEN OF HAWKSMOOR. Having been well and truly 'bitten
by the bug' of showing and owning golden retrievers, we decided to buy
two bitches who were to become our foundation line and from whom many
of present dogs are descended. VEROY LETICIA OF HAWKSMOOR J.W. 2 REC
C.C. (Tisha) & RIELLA PERSEPHONE OF HAWKSMOOR (Sophie).
With Bracken, Tisha and Sophie
we soon became firmly involved with showing: most weekends were spent
in the show ring and indeed it became rather a family affair with Kelli
attending her first show at only 10 days old!!!. Many friends in the
breed have commented that they find it most ageing to see the baby that
they used to see at weekends now showing and judging herself! Ross has
not followed us to the show ring but has taken an interest in the working
side of Goldens and is often found training his working Golden 'Tulla'
and attending Working Tests
We hope you enjoy reading about
our family of Golden Retrievers as we take you through our line of present
dogs and those that have sadly left us behind. However our most important
philosophy is that our Goldens are family pets first: they live with
us in our home, and are usually found in front of the fire in the winter
months with us freezing behind them!.
We aim to breed for temperament,
believing that most important characteristic in a dog is being able
to live together. However we are also concerned to work at improving
the breed and consequently all our Goldens have current eye certificates
and are hip scored under the B.V.A. scheme, and the younger members
are joining the elbow scheme. |
